March is technically spring but often feels like late winter in Cappadocia's continental climate. The landscape is dry and the vegetation hasn't yet responded to the season, which means the rock formations are visible in their full austerity.
The practical advantage of March is the absence of crowds. Pack layers: spring days are warm but mornings and evenings are cold, and the valleys can funnel wind that makes the real temperature feel several degrees colder than the air temperature.
